Weighing up digital invites, a wedding website, printed stationery, or all three?

Weighing up digital invites, a wedding website, printed stationery, or all three?

One of the questions we get asked most often is a simple one: what does Gather actually do?

It's a fair question, and it usually comes with a few others attached. Do you still need printed invitations? A traditional wedding website? A Canva save the date? Digital stationery?

The honest answer is: it depends on you. In fact, in a recent survey, 34% of Gather hosts used printed stationery, 30% simply shared their Gather link, and 25% used a mix of everything.

Gather is designed to work however you want it to; alongside your existing plans, or in place of them. There's no right configuration. No single way to run a wedding, and no one way to use Gather: just yours.

A home for your guest communications

At its core, Gather is a central hub for everything guest-related. A single place where you can send save the dates, share personalised itineraries, ask your guests questions, collect RSVPs, and send last-minute updates without juggling WhatsApp threads, spreadsheets, and forwarded emails.

It doesn't replace the things you love. If you've fallen for a particular stationer, Gather sits alongside your printed invites seamlessly. If you'd rather go fully digital, it can handle everything.

The point isn't to tell you how to communicate with your guests. It's to make sure that however you choose to do it, nothing slips through the gaps.

More flexible than a wedding website, more personal than a form

Wedding websites are great for sharing information publicly. But they weren't designed for the back-and-forth of real guest management: the dietary requirements, the plus-one questions, the accommodation arrangements that vary depending on who's asking.

Gather handles all of that. Guests receive personalised information relevant to them, and you have a clear view of everything live and in in one place.

The best way to understand it? See it working with your own guest list.
